WINTER QUARTER

In this project, a web-based platform was taken and designed as a cyber-physical system. After an extensive research on Instagram, about its data, algorithms, and inner workings, the project was visualised as an intersection of a physical space and a digital interface.

The physical system, a spherical geometry divided into three parts apart from the base: a display panel that projects or shows pictures taken, a browsing panel to browse through the content, and a backdrop panel. These panels moved with the help of two Kuka arms, while the back panel is stationary. The base is the consumption area, where the user can sit and relax while using Instagram. The display panel also holds a table, where objects can be kept to take pictures. A  camera with 360 picture capabilities is also integrated into the panel.

This sphere is seen as the profile of the user which is a part of a large universe of profiles. The user can browse through the universe through the digital interface, a system which is constantly in motion. The user can also experience the 360 pictures in VR and can take pictures within the same environment being projected on the backdrop panel. It provides the user with a three-dimensional experience of Instagram.
