COLLEGE CAFETERIA

The goal of this project was to design a cafeteria for the college. The building is to be used by both the faculty and the college students, so the areas have been segregated but interconnected. The cafe is designed as a hangout space for the students to relax. A survey study was done with the students to understand there needs better. 

 

The seating spaces have been designed in a combination of closed, open and semi-open spaces so as to provide comfortable spaces throughout the year. The different spaces also cater to the needs of all kinds of students providing them with options for relaxing spaces in all kinds of weather. The skylight within the enclosed area provides ample daylight. Most of the building surfaces are designed for maximum daylighting. There are four types of seating given: Tables and chairs in the enclosed area, benches with tables in the semi-open area, platforms under the trees as a close to nature seating and individual seats designed as sculptures and lawns up front.
